On March 21 and 22, 2016, the Office of Animal Resources detected the presence of an excluded viral mouse pathogen through the health surveillance program.
The identified agent is a mouse-specific rotavirus, known as Epizootic Diarrhea of Infant Mice, or EDIM. The initial disease detection identified a total of nine animal housing rooms in two non-barrier facilities which have been quarantined against all animal movement. OAR will provide regular update communications to all rodent investigators as more information becomes available.
