Animal Inventory

To ensure accurate animal inventory control, appropriate Transaction Slips must be completed and submitted on the day of inventory modification.

• Yellow slips are used for mice (inventoried per cage) and salmon slips for all other species (inventoried per animal)
• One slip to six slips - separate slip for each “transaction” (see examples)
• Information must be completed on each line of the slip
• Only pertinent information obtained for each transaction
• Accurate & timely completion are very important

REMOVAL When a cage is permanently removed from OAR housing by laboratory with no intention of being returned	WEAN When weaning litters into new, separate cages
DIVIDE When dividing cages of adults into new, separate cages (e.g., separating dominant males, breeding pairs)	EUTHANASIA REQUEST When lab is requesting OAR to euthanize mice  (a fee will be charged by OAR)
TRANSFER OF ANIMALS BETWEEN PI'S/LABS or PROTOCOL- Account Change for same PI Used when transferring mice between PI's/Lab/Protocol-account of same PI
